At Signature Psychiatric Hospital, we recognize that knowing what to expect can make seeking behavioral health treatment less intimidating. We have put together some frequently asked questions (FAQs) to help ease any concerns you might have about turning to us for professional support.
Do You Take My Insurance?
At Signature Psychiatric Hospital, we accept most commercial insurance plans. Our assessment and referral staff can connect you with one of our business office specialists, who can answer your insurance coverage questions and address any financial concerns you may have.
Where Are You Located?
The inpatient treatment we offer at Signature is available at two locations:
- North Kansas City Hospital, 2900 Clay Edwards Dr., North Kansas City, Missouri
- Liberty Hospital, 2525 Glenn Hendren Dr., Liberty, Missouri
The outpatient treatment we offer is available at three locations:
- North Kansas City Medical Building, 2750 Clay Edwards Dr., North Kansas City, Missouri
- North Kansas City Hospital, 2900 Clay Edwards Dr., North Kansas City, Missouri
- Liberty Outpatient Clinic, 550 Rush Creek Parkway, Liberty, Missouri
What Can I Expect When I First Arrive?
You will be greeted by a member of our assessment team and asked to fill out our behavioral health assessment. This is the first step in our assessment process, which allows us to determine the type and level of care that can best meet your needs.
Who Do I Call After Hours for Help?
We offer assessments by walk-in from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. If you need an assessment after 10 p.m., please visit the North Kansas City Hospital emergency room. A member of the Signature staff will meet with you and conduct the assessment there.
Please note that if you visited an emergency room at another facility before coming to Signature, you should expect to receive an emergency department bill from that facility.
If you are not in a life-threatening situation and wish to avoid emergency department billing, we recommend waiting until the next morning to come to Signature for a behavioral health assessment.
What Ages Do You Provide Care For?
Signature provides inpatient, residential, and outpatient treatment for adults age 18 and older. We also offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adolescents ages 13-17.

If you require medication management services, you may see a psychiatrist once a week in our partial hospitalization program (PHP) and once a month in our intensive outpatient program (IOP).
Will I Be Able to Work & Attend Outpatient Services?
Everyone’s experience is different, but most people can go to work and take part in one of our outpatient programs at the same time. We offer many outpatient programming options to accommodate a variety of schedules.
Do You Offer Individual Therapy?
Our outpatient programming primarily focuses on group therapy, but we do integrate individual and family sessions depending on each person’s specific needs. We also offer referrals for individual therapists and strongly encourage these services for aftercare.
