Kansas City, Missouri’s Preferred Program for Adult Residential Treatment

Signature Psychiatric Hospital is a leading provider of behavioral healthcare services and features an adult residential program for people who are experiencing symptoms of substance use disorders

About Our Adult Residential Program

Signature Psychiatric Hospital’s Changing Pointe program offers residential treatment for adults age 18 and older who are battling addictions to substances such as alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids.

Residential programming is a live-in treatment option that can provide the highly structured support many patients need as they begin recovery.

Typical length of stay in our adult residential program is 28 days; however, actual time spent in the program will depend on each patient’s needs and the progress they make in treatment.

Features & Services

Signature Psychiatric Hospital’s adult residential program features a variety of evidence-based therapies to provide full-scale support for patients in our care. Depending on individual needs, patients may have the opportunity to receive several services, including:

  • Medication management services
  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Family therapy

Medication management services are available on a case-by-case basis and administered by a team of doctors, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and certified medical technicians.

Individual therapy sessions are led by licensed therapists and offered every other day, whereas group therapy is available every day. Group therapy can provide valuable insight into strategies for coping with addictions and can cover a multitude of relevant topics, such as triggers, relapse prevention, and the impact addictions can have on families.

We prioritize providing family support and offer family-specific therapy sessions that are unique to our residential program. These sessions are led by therapists and offered twice weekly. We understand that substance abuse can weigh heavily on a family. Through educational discussions with loved ones regarding addiction and relapse prevention, we hope to help restore healthy family bonds that may have been strained because of substance abuse.

Admissions Process

Making the decision to receive care for an addiction is life-changing, but it can seem overwhelming. In Signature Psychiatric Hospital’s Changing Pointe residential program, we offer a seamless admissions process that can help put our patients at ease as they seek behavioral healthcare services.

Admissions to our adult residential program are made on an individual basis. This program is designed to be a step-down in care from inpatient detox, though patients can enter this program directly without completing a higher level of care at our hospital.

Prospective patients and loved ones can schedule an appointment with our admissions team or take advantage of our walk-in policy that welcomes in-person requests each day from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Direct referrals can be sent by fax and are reviewed by our assessment team and staff physician.

Prior to admission to our hospital, patients are required to participate in an initial assessment that helps our team determine certain therapeutic elements that may be incorporated into their individualized care plans.

Continuing Care

A patient’s path to healing may begin in our residential program, but that is often just the first step on their journey to recovery. We believe that aftercare is an important part of treatment, and we offer a continuum of care that strategically promotes long-term success.

We take a comprehensive approach to planning each patient’s discharge process by involving a multidisciplinary team of professionals. Doctors, nurses, and case managers review the patient’s collective information, including the results of their initial assessment and the progress they made while in the program, to develop a plan that can promote continued success.

The planning process begins at time of admission, and a patient’s aftercare plan may be adjusted as needed prior to program completion. Individual therapy is commonly recommended; however, aftercare plans may include outpatient programming and family therapy.

Your time in inpatient care may also include family meetings, which are designed to provide education and facilitate discussion among patients and their families.
