What Is TMS?
Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a noninvasive procedure that was approved by the FDA in 2008 to help people heal from major depressive disorder.
During TMS sessions, an insulated coil is placed over the scalp that painlessly delivers magnetic pulses that are the same type and strength as those generated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines. This stimulates the area of the brain thought to play a role in regulating mood, which can ease depression symptoms.
At Signature Psychiatric Hospital, we offer TMS for adults age 18 and older whose struggles with depression have not been alleviated by medication or therapy. This safe, effective service is available on an outpatient basis at our clinics located in North Kansas City, Missouri.
Our TMS Program
