A person’s struggles with depression can make them feel hopeless. But with the right support, it’s possible for them to live a fuller, more productive life. Signature Psychiatric Hospital offers transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for adults age 18 and older who are suffering from chronic depression that has been resistant to other therapies and approaches.
What Is TMS?
Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a noninvasive procedure that was approved by the FDA in 2008 to help people heal from major depressive disorder.
During TMS sessions, an insulated coil is placed over the scalp that painlessly delivers magnetic pulses that are the same type and strength as those generated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines. This stimulates the area of the brain thought to play a role in regulating mood, which can ease depression symptoms.
At Signature Psychiatric Hospital, we offer TMS for adults age 18 and older whose struggles with depression have not been alleviated by medication or therapy. This safe, effective service is available on an outpatient basis at our clinics located in North Kansas City, Missouri.
Our TMS Program

The TMS program at Signature Psychiatric Hospital typically consists of five sessions per week for about four to six weeks, with most sessions lasting about 20 minutes. This can vary for each person depending on their specific needs and the progress they’ve made throughout their time with us.
Our team is committed to helping you find healing and will be by your side throughout this process. If necessary, we will work with you to adjust your care plan to ensure that you remain on track to reach your therapeutic goals.
